Alaia

Taz was back on his bullshit and there wasn’t anything that I could do. I really didn’t want to call Cappadonna, but I had been in this house for two days eating grilled cheese because I had no money for food. I was grateful that I had electricity, so I was managing with the grilled cheese sandwiches.

That was until I ran out of bread and all I had were two slices of cheese. The cheese wasn’t all that good to begin with because it barely melted. I had called Taz for the past few days, and he refused to answer. The one time he answered, he laughed and said you hungrier than a bitch, huh? How could someone be so fucking cruel.

As if putting his hands on a pregnant woman wasn’t enough, he continued to torture me some more because Capp had hurt his ego. I truly didn’t want to call Capp, but I had no other choice because I didn’t know who else to call. I hated that I had so much pride and would rather starve than call this man to ask him to help me.

It wasn’t about me anymore; it was about the baby. I couldn’t deprive her because I didn’t want him to look at me like I was a charity case. Even though he never acted that way once.

The phone rang and he answered, sounding like he was asleep. “My phone must be fucking with me… can't be the Alaia calling me.” Even with the sleepiness in his voice, he still found time to make a joke.

“Hey Capp.”

“What’s going on, baby girl?”

“Can you make me a promise?”

“Depends.”

“Capp… I made you three promises already. I’m only asking for one… please,” I begged him.

“Ight…what’s the promise, Alaia?” I could hear him sitting up on the other end of the line and became nervous.

“That you won’t think less of me for what I’m about to ask you.”

“Come on now, I could never. I promise… tell Daddy what you need.” I just knew he was grinning on the other end of the line.

I was in the middle of about to beg this man for money, and he had managed to make me blush. “Can I borrow some money to buy some food? Taz won’t answer the phone anymore and I ran out of some things. I will pay you back soon as I get the money.”

The line became quiet, and I was regretting even calling. I should have knocked next door and took my chances.

“Give me thirty minutes.”

“You don’t need to come over here. I have the number to the grocery store, you can pay over the phone, and they will deliver it.”

“Get dressed, Alaia.”

He ended the call and I looked at the phone knowing he was heading over here. I had time to think, and I needed to just tell Cappadonna what was going on in my life. After Taz mentioned selling my baby, it didn’t sit right with me. It was all I thought about since the words had left his mouth.
